My (not-so) baby boy is turning 3 in about a week. Wow, does time fly! For his birthday, his Grandma and Poppy got him tickets to ride Thomas the Tank Engine! (We LOVE Thomas!!!) Noah was so excited for his ride. He came up to me at one point and said, “So… WHAT are we going to do about getting to ride Thomas? What are we going to do about getting tickets?” This kid is hilarious!
Thomas was amazing, even to a silly adult like myself! He was lifesize (of course) and even moved his mouth and eyes when he talked! Noah was completely enthralled. My normally outgoing, chatterbox of a boy was nearly silent the whole time. He was just silently taking in everything around him. It was perfectly adorable. Plus, I was able to get a few (difficult) pictures on the vacant train tracks there for his third birthday portraits. Noah is a true photographer’s kid and HATES to pose, look at me, or smile for pictures. Take note of his “SMILE” that is really more of a “stop it mom” grimace.
Definitely take advantage of the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum in Calera, Alabama if you have a chance. Especially if your little one is as into trains as Noah is! My big boy has not been able to stop talking about it – “Thomas was at the front of the train and a diesel was at the back.” (He knows more than I do about this stuff!
Photography should never be attempted on live train tracks. There have been way too many recorded instances of injuries or deaths as a result of trying to do a photoshoot on train tracks. Please always use caution. These images are taken on a non-active track with in-active trains at a railroad museum.
