Meet Birmingham, AL Photographer, Shelley Barrett
I am a homeschooling mom of four crazy kids - Noah (10), Lucy Lou (8), Annie Mae (6), and little Molly Jo (3). They keep me very busy! We are an extra"spicy" household, so I am always up for meeting your kids wherever their comfort levels may be! I am originally from the Birmingham, AL area and now that we are moving back from Florida, I can't wait to get back to my favorite hometown!
Photography is truly my DREAM JOB, and I count myself so lucky to love what I do.
I grew up in Birmingham and I have always had a passion for photography that began with photojournalism and travel photography. I tried to choose a more "classic" job path and majored in Elementary Education since I have a great love for children and teaching. I worked in preschools and elementary schools for four years before deciding that I wanted to pursue an education in Computer Science. I loved working in programming, but once my first son was born, I discovered that I loved photographing babies more! At that time, I took the "plunge" and began my photography business full-time. It is truly my DREAM JOB and I count myself so lucky to work with such amazing people!
Some random facts about me:
- I love the colors teal, yellow, and black and white.
- I love music and singing. I played clarinet, flute, and oboe in high school, as well as piano and bass guitar.
- I am obsessed with games puzzles and trivia.
- My favorites are cheese dip and margaritas. Yum!
- I'm actually half-blind in one eye.
- I totally understand the hate that many moms feel about being in front of the camera, but I try to as often as possible for the sake of my kids!
