This gorgeous session was from quite a while ago, actually. Baby Asher was such a happy, smiley guy. Like, I kept a huge smile on my face the entire session because he was just so stinking cute! I love the light, airy coloring that the beach session provided. Sometimes, I still have to pinch myself that my job includes going to the beach to take pictures of adorable kids. I love that we were also able to capture special bonding between mom and son. This mom was very proud (and rightly so!) of breastfeeding for a year, so she wanted to celebrate that accomplishment. I love the beautiful images we captured of the two of them.
One thing that I have learned about beach portraits, is that there is a very small window of time when the sun is hitting just right in the afternoon. So it especially important to show up on time for your beach session. I always like to start these sessions against the dunes, so that the beautiful light falls just right. Pictures that are taken at the shore, with the water in the background, must happen right before sunset to avoid deep shadows and harsh light. There are also lots of other options for backdrops near the beach that are also gorgeous. Places like boardwalks, piers, and pathways make for wonderful lines which looks really nice in photographs.
