I absolutely love having the opportunity to work with families at my Birmingham, Alabama newborn photography studio. Especially when I get to work with multiple siblings over the years and witness those siblings as they grow up. At my previous studio I was able to work with so many amazing families and so lucky to be trusted with all the siblings. It's so special to see similarities and differences between siblings in the newborn stage. Sometimes I swear they could be twins separated by a few years.

Special Sibling Set ups

Moving the newborn photography studio back up to Birmingham, I was not expecting the chance to work with siblings again for a few years, but I was so excited for the opportunity to photograph a sweet baby sister who's big sister I actually had the pleasure of posing some nine years ago when I first started my newborn portrait business back in Chelsea, Alabama. I was thrilled to be able to provide newborn pictures for the newest little sis.

We stuck to a beautiful neutral theme (with some classy blush thrown in, of course!) for our colors. I usually like to work in a replicated photo from big sibling's session or a photo that is a nod to their session. For sweet baby girl Ellisyn's session we were able to incorporate the same beautiful pink seersucker bow wrap that we used for big sister's session. I love how it turned out!

Sweet baby girl was soooo teeny tiny, just having reached 5 pounds. But she was already a little spit-fire. She was determined to stay wide awake for the first part of her session, but she was perfectly adorable and very happy to just hang out and stare at me. I ended up winning the battle and little miss fell asleep, so we were able to get all of our gorgeous poses in! I always remind parents that it’s best for newborn babies to be asleep during their sessions. Many of our poses are quite intricate, and having an awake baby can present safety concerns, as babies may jump or flinch unexpectedly. While there are certainly safe poses that can be done with an awake baby, if you notice me spending extra time soothing your baby to sleep, it’s because a peaceful, sleeping infant allows me to smoothly execute the full range of poses and capture the beautiful photos we all envision!

But cute little personality shots are always best with an awake little firecracker!
