It was such an honor to have this baby boy come to my Pace Newborn Photography Studio for his newborn session. Mom and dad went “Team Green” so they did not know the sex of the baby before he was born, but we planned to at least do a special rainbow set up to honor the journey for baby boy to get here.
A “rainbow baby” is a baby that is born following the loss of another baby.

In the real world, a beautiful and bright rainbow follows a storm and gives hope of things getting better.
The rainbow does not negate the storm, but acknowledges it and creates something beautiful. Storm-clouds might still be overhead as the family continue to cope with the loss, but something colorful and bright has emerged from the darkness.
I had a lot of fun creating some beautiful set-ups for this gorgeous session. I handmade the button backgrounds with a couple ideas in mind – a whole lot of buttons and glue (and some children who had a very hard time staying away). The final result turned out so much better than I even imagined.
