Catching up on some Spring/Summer beach sessions for the blog, and I was thinking about how this session was during the rainy season, when the Pensacola/Florida panhandle area gets rain almost every afternoon. Currently, the Pace area is suffering from a drought. I think it has been over a month since we have seen a drop of rain. **As I am writing this, I hear a sudden huge rainstorm hit. Hallelujah!**
For beach sessions, it is important to be very aware and cautious of thunderstorms and lightning – beaches are where most lightning accidents occur, and I don’t want anyone being put in danger for the sake of a picture! Thankfully most of the afternoon showers that we get here around the Gulf Coast are very short-lived. I do not typically cancel/reschedule outdoor sessions unless it is pretty clear that there is going to be heavy non-stop rain. This is because I have been thwarted way too many times by phantom rain showers. With photography sessions, all we require is a small amount of area to photograph in that is not currently raining, so I will watch the radar religiously and often even drive out to the location before canceling a session for rain. This is obviously not always true, but for standard Florida rainy-season when rain is forecast daily, it would be impossible to take any pictures if I did not take this approach.
All of that being said, as I listen to the beautiful rain falling outside onto our extra parched ground… Here is a gorgeous beach session for one-year-old Luna. Not only is she beautiful, but she had the cutest personality. I couldn’t get enough of her dancing! We also got a few pictures with big brother. He wasn’t super keen to cooperate, but I absolutely love what we ended up getting!
